You can add a search provider to IE 7 so that you can search your Intranet. This way you can use SharePoint's Search Services to find important information located on your Intranet.
To do this, follow the process listed under "Create Your Own" at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/searchguide/en-en/default.mspx
Click on Install and you will get prompted to add this as a search provider. You can optionally se this up as the default provider.
Now this is listed as another search provider available and this makes it very easy for you to search your Intranet.
