Setting up permissions for Anonymous users in Windows SharePoint Services v3

Tags:

After a recent ThreeWill seminar about Workflow, I wanted to create an anonymous survey for attendees to fill out to understand better about priorities for different types of workflows.

That survey is located here - http://blogs.threewill.com/worktogetherbetter/Lists/Workflow%20Survey/overview.aspx

To set up the permissions for the survey, I went through the following steps.

  1. Go to the list that I want to configure for anonymous permissions. I'll configure a survey for this example.
  2. Select Settings | Survey Settings.
  3. Click Permissions for this survey.
  4. Click Actions | Edit Permissions.
  5. Click OK to dialog about changing permissions for this site.
  6. Click Settings | Anonymous Access.
  7. You can then select whether to allow anonymous users to add, edit, delete, or view items in the list. Click OK to save the settings.

For the survey example, I wanted to allow anonymous users to add new responses to the survey and view survey responses so I selected Add Items and View Items. This means that they can post multiple responses to the survey (hence the reason why I call the survey non-scientific)
