Since I did such an outstanding job with Chris Edwards’s interview, I was allowed to move forward with the next poor soul.
Interview with Danny Sebestyen, ThreeWill Senior Consultant…
Andi - So, who was your idol growing up (could be a person, fictional character, sports celebrity) and why?
Danny – Wow, I am going to go with John Elway. I used to be a huge Denver Broncos fan. I admired him because he epitomized the concept of ‘never give up’ and that’s the way he won so many games at the very last minute. You can just never give up.
Andi - How did you meet your wife Angela?
Danny – Laugh. Fourteen years ago at Equifax on the same day of both out first day of training. There were seven others in this three month training. At the time, she had a boyfriend, but one day her car broke down, I helped her and the rest is history.
Andi - Okay, for the fun, thought inducing questions….if you could be truly gifted and/or talented in any area/expertise what would it be and why?
Danny – Race car driver! I love racing and I have had some training at Road Atlanta. I love all types of racing…I think you are born with it because my son is the same way. I just love it…so loud and fast!
Andi – Theoretically, you are going to be deserted on an island, what book would you bring? You have a few hours left on your iPod battery, what album/song would most you listen to?
Danny – I do read, but not much. Lately I have been reading more Christian books like “The Way of the Wild Heart” by John Eldridge and I enjoy Tom Clancy. Oh, but for my favorite book, “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz is great. I don’t have an iPod and I listen to a everything but my one album is definitely Pearl Jam 10.
Andi - Now to some standard, but insightful questions….What is your favorite aspect of working here at ThreeWill?
Danny – The people. They people make a difficult job easier. You realize you can’t do it alone.
Andi - What is your favorite development topic and why?
Danny – Databases. I enjoy taking business problems and modeling them into physical data items. Is that technical enough for you Andi? Laugh.
Andi – Yes, thanks. I have met your children, but tell me about them. Who do they take after?
Danny – My son Coleman takes after my wife, Angela. He is talkative and asks a million questions all the time and is always moving. He only need 6 hours of sleep a day, were my daughter Marin could sleep for 12 hours straight. Marin takes after me. She is more quiet and reserved and she learns by watching.
Andi - Tell me something that most people don’t know about you.
Danny – Pause. Well, this might surprise some people around here but I used to do home remodeling and home building. I am looking at redoing my basement soon. I will probably do this type of work in the future. The other thing is that I have a ‘work personality’ and a ‘go-out and get rowdy personality.’ At work and at home, I am quiet, but every once in awhile we go out and have fun.
Andi – What is the best advice anyone has ever given you? Something that you live by.
Danny – I have a bunch of those (motto’s to live by). My favorite advice or quote is something Walt Disney said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” I really love quotes and used to be in the habit of writing them all over the white boards here in the office.
